The inspiration for this sculpture came to me from a customer named Susan, from Iowa City, Iowa. Susan’s sister had lost her battle with breast cancer many years ago. Her niece was only eleven when her mother passed away. Susan has a thing about butterflies, as many people do and believes they represent both life and death in their journey from a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly. The angel watching over the little girl may represent something different for every viewer. It is so fitting that this design helped raise significant funds for our local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Race-for-the-Cure. Thank you, Susan, for your inspiration!
